Syttende Mai at Vesterheim

Vesterheim invites everyone to celebrate Syttende Mai, Norway’s Constitution Day, a day early on May 16!

This celebration includes free admission to the museum all day with a Children’s Parade throughout Vesterheim Heritage Park, a performance by Decorah’s Nordic Dancers, hands-on crafts, live music, ice cream, and more.

There will be a concert with Norwegian fiddler Vidar Skrede! Vidar Skrede is a freelance Nordic folk musician, playing fiddle, Hardanger fiddle, and guitar with a background in the traditional music of Rogaland, his home area in the southwest of Norway. He has a master’s degree in Nordic folk music at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, and is known for playing in several bands, including Geitungen, AAMOS, Secret Carpet Club, and Lynx Lynx. Many of his CDs have been nominated for best folk music album in Norway and Finland.
